Contributions to Care of Patients
Merrill & Paul Kitchen (team leaders) lived in Nazareth year ago (1973-5) and served at the hospital. MERRILL
has this time caught up with former Nursing Students and has been regularly visiting patients and their relatives in the Medical & Surgical wards especially at visiting times in the evenings. With her ability in Arabic she has made some useful contacts and been able to follow up some patients until day of discharge
GLEN WEGNER (last week dressed as Carpenter at the Nazareth Village) shared with the Pastoral Care Team at the Nazareth Hospital for over 2 hours on Tuesday 13th using concepts derived from his years of experience as a Chaplain at Box Hill Hospital and is helping the chaplains here develop a pastoral care policy for use by all sections of the hospital.
PAUL KITCHEN,
team leader and general surgeon at St.Vincent’ s hospital, has lectured to the medical staff on the Modern Management of Early Breast Cancer and used his surgical skills on 4 patients, teaching a new and proven technique for the surgical management of patients with a common painful condition in the Mediterranean world known as Pilonidal Sinus. Paul has a worldwide reputation in this field, and was able to teach the technique to an enthusiastic surgeon here who promised to use it on his patients in the future.

Paul and Merrill are a wonderful combination. I value
their reliability and commitment to the Nazareth hospital and consider them to be close personal friends. Val
